Each Tool Adds an Important Element

Applying the Mulefoot Stamp to the Pattern

The eighth tool applied to the hand-tooled pattern of a Custom Western Belt is the mulefoot stamp.  It is a v-shaped tool that resembles a mule shoe or mule foot and is applied as an accent along the stem of the floral pattern.  It is typically applied as a series of impressions, with each succeeding impression lighter than the previous impression as it moves away from the flower or leaf.  This tool is quickly applied to the custom hand-tooled pattern since it requires the fewest number of impressions of any of the tools used.  Even so, the accent is important in completing the look of the custom made belt.
